When it comes to your roofing project, it’s important to gather a few different quotes. Typically, the quotes will not be far off from one another, but it is still important to talk to more than one affordable roofing company. Why? You have the opportunity to ask questions and get a better sense of their knowledge.
You want to meet the individual selling the roof to you to understand how the company operates. In our last blog, we talked about how the roofing contractor wearing too many hats is a red flag. You don’t want to work with a company that has the business owner doing all of the leg work. A salesperson should be coming to your door and communicating back to the decision maker(s).
You can tell a lot about what to expect based on your interaction with the salesperson:
- Are they on time?
- Do they understand your roof’s needs?
- Can they provide full, detailed answers to your questions?
- Are they able to explain why their pricing is higher than other quotes you’ve received?
The top roofing company can charge the highest price and still not understand how to repair or install your roof. Their quoted price does not correlate to their quality of work.
Rather than focusing on the final dollar amount of your roof, focus on past custom reviews and the quality of work the contractor has provided in the past. If they charge a high price but have many customer complaints, you can easily tell their price is not dependent on the work. Rather, it is likely they have costs they need to pass on to you (and they hope you won’t notice).
